Are you curious about Clicker Training? Do you wonder how one little sound can train your dog to do anything? Learn the science behind Clicker Training in this beginner level clicker training class. This class is for non-aggressive dogs that can be at any level of obedience. Preferred age is 6 months or older.

Class will be a fast-paced, fun environment chock full of practical obedience instruction and games that will give you and your dog a relationship where communication between dog and handler is clear, fun, fast and effective. Hand-outs will be given at each class.

What to bring: Flat collar (no pinch or choke collars); nylon or leather 6 ft leash (no Flexi leads); treat bag; LOTS of small, soft, high quality treats (hot dogs/Zuke’s treats) cut into the size of a pencil eraser; current shot records, including bordetella

Week One – Focus, focus, focus! Load the clicker, Premack Principle, human timing, Name Recognition, Whip Lash Turns

Week Two – Touch or targeting. Sit equals “please.” Learn how to teach a default sit. Sit/stay. Sit to meet a stranger. Sit opens doors. Release cues.

Week Three – Go to mat, Watch Me, Loose Leash Walking

Week Four – I’m Gonna Get You, Leave It, Look at That!

Week Five –Exchanging Objects-Give It, Recall, Troubleshooting

Week Six – Graduation!!! Training with Distractions, distractions, distractions, fade the clicker and Mystery Box Challenge.

Aggressive/Reactive Dog Private Training

Cost: $75 per hour. Purchase three lessons in advance, get the fourth free.

Dog-to-dog aggression and dog-to-people aggression are the top issues facing dog owners today. Annie Phenix has learned from the top positive reinforcement trainers in the country dealing with aggression/reactivity. Annie utilizes the information found in Leslie McDevitt's "Control Unleashed: Creating a Focused and Confident Dog", and Emma Parson's "Click to Calm". Using these modern, cutting-edge approaches, Annie teaches your dog confidence and calmeness in the face of whatever causes the reactivity.

Owners of this kind of dog often end up staying at home and living smaller lives as a result of their fear of their dog's unwanted behavior. With the aid of the clicker and positive reinforcement, Annie will have you and your dog enjoying all Durango has to offer in no time!

All reactive-dog clients working with Annie are requested to purchase one of the two books referenced above. $25 is a small price to pay for obtaining the knowledge to heal your dog.

Targeted In-Kennel Training at Pampered Pets

Cost: $125 per trained skill plus boarding fees at Pampered Pets (up to 2 skills per week, minimum 5-day stay).

After years of working closely with her clients, Annie has created a unique training opportunity for those owners who just want to fix a few problem areas with their dogs. All dogs boarded five days or longer at Pampered Pets are eligible. You decide how many behaviors you would like your dog to learn during their stay and pay only for that training. It's targeted training tailored to you and your pets' needs! Targeted, trained skills from which you can choose include:

Please note that this program is only available to non-aggressive, well-socialized dogs and current vaccinations are required. Most training involves food reinforcement, so please let us know if your dog has any allergies. We accept both neutered and intact dogs for training. Remember, all new skills must continue to be positively reinforced once the dog returns home!

30 Day In-Kennel Training

Cost: $550 training fee plus boarding fee of $450 for small dogs (1-30 pounds), $510 for medium dogs (31-60 pounds), or $570 for large dogs (61+ pounds). Boarding includes two walks a day in addition to training time; the kennel provides food (or bring your own), and most medications administered at no extra charge. We accept both neutered and intact dogs. Current vaccinations are required.

All training will be done with a flat collar or slip lead, and we only use positive reinforcement training methods. Most training involves food reinforcement, so please let us know if your dog has any allergies.

Your pet will enjoy the pampered life at Pampered Pets, and you'll get a well-mannered canine companion after thirty days of training. Pampered Pets offers an idyllic country setting where your dog will get walked twice a day with lots of personalized attention. Pampered Pets owner Patti Buck lives on-site so someone will always be there to watch over your companion.
